Hi luciaphile,
I have very little here. I first heard him on an old LP. The
LP has no yr. printed on it. It's title is Arias From the World's
Greatest Operas, also featuring Jeanette La Bianca and Otello
Borgonovo. All of them were soloists from La Scala Opera. On the LP
back cover it states this about Nobile: "A virtuoso of the violin
before he was 18. He also studied singing with the great maestros of
Pavia. His first appearances were made on the Italian and Swiss radio
and television networks. His tenor voice was first heard at "La Scala"
in 1955 and he has been a regular for many seasons. He has also
appeared in Vienna,Salzburg, Cagliari, Luxembourg, and all the other
great music festivals of Europe." So that's all I have on him. I ran
him through the SS death index, Latter Day Saints database,
google.com(of course),Grove Music, NY Times Obituaries Index(both
books which run through Dec.31,1978), Obituaries On File(1979),
Merriam Webster's Biographical dictionary(1995),Cambridge Biographical
Encyclopedia 2nd ed.(1998), Biography Resource Center(Gale
product),Biography & Genealogy Master Index(Gale product). I believe
this guy is probably still alive. There have been sources which I can
remember this moment. Bluestreak
