I'm looking for the name of a Secretary to the Austrian Legation in
Tokyo who appears in a Japanese short story set in 1927. He is
described as being from an Austrian aristocratic family and as having
left Japan in 1927. The backtransliteration of the Japanese is
'Chindaru', but this would not be the spelling in the original
language (presumably German). Possibilities (by sound) might include,
for example, 'Cindar', 'Tindal', 'Tschindar', 'Tyndall', 'Zindar',
etc. Since several other named background-figures in the story (e.g.,
the French ambassador Paul Claudel) are real, historical characters, I
assume that the Secretary to the Austrian Legation is too. At any
rate, presumably someone occupied this post in 1927.
