Hello,

I would like to hear from some clever folks about what one can do with
an antique cast iron cobbler set. The set includes a stand and seven
cast iron pieces that I think were used as "models" for creating
leather shoes.

Not being all that clever or funny myself, I could come up with only
four things:

1. Make shoes
2. Display in a shoe repair shop
3. Display in an antique shop window
4. Use as very large and unusal paperweights

Can you give me a list of ten more? Thanks!

Hi Marthasvineyard,

This has been a fun and interesting question to answer. Pinkfreud,
gave you one good use for the set. It took me quite a while to think
of some wacky but applicable ideas. I came up with eleven so know you
have twelve. If I can think of some more, I'll add it in the comments
area. I hope you have fun.

Your antique cast iron cobbler set can be used...

...for scratching
...for digging
...as patterns to trace (foot shape pattern maker)
...as counterweights
...as very unusual chime
...as candle stands
...as oddly-shaped weights (for aerobics exercise)
...as oddly-shaped hammering tools (only for small nails, pegs, pins,
tacks, etc.)
...as a set of throw-at-robber weapon (if the small piecese don't do
the job, the big one will)
...as visual aid to help small children count (odd but practically
useful)
...as very large and unusual tokens for a very large custom-made
gameboard

Search strategy:

None. I called upon the child in me. He answered. ;-)

Should you have any comments/questions, please feel free to post your
clarification before rating this and I'll attend to you as soon as
possible. Thanks for the fun.

Would they make good doorstops?

The comment and answers have inspired me to come up with another use:

When being for dinner (in the case of not really wanting to go) and
being asked to bring a dessert, one can bring along the tools and say,
"Oh, you meant the OTHER kind of cobbler!"

Oops -- I meant "being invited for dinner"

1 - Create an interesting "foot in mouth" display for a local (or
national) politician.

2 - Bronze them like baby shoes and hang them from the rear view
mirror of a very large bulldozer.

3 - Create an interesting "foot in mouth" display for a local (or
national) politician.

4 - Donate them to a bell making foundry as novelty bell clappers.

5 - Create an interesting "foot in mouth" display for a local (or
national) politician.

6 - Use them as bookends.

7 - Create an interesting "foot in mouth" display for a local (or
national) politician.

8 - Use them as novel ornaments in a rock garden.

9 - Create an interesting "foot in mouth" display for a local (or
national) politician.

10 - Repeat items 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 and 9

Hahaha! That one is my favorite too! You can also use them...
...as custom foot pedals and shift-stick for your car
...as oddly shaped, pre-heat clothes iron
...as anchor for a small boat (you will need to weld them together of course)
...as door knockers
...as bell ringers
...as fence ornaments
...as body massager
...as heavy-duty (and heavy) earrings - just to make a fashion statement

expanding on digsalot-ga's suggestion about garden ornaments...

mount them along a pathway - where footsteps would go _-_-_-_

You could chain 'em together to make a unique boat anchor.

...grain pestle/beater

Paperweight. Or weight to hold down anything glued together.

Add rope or chain for a mace or flail (violent tendencies, hehehe).

You could put one in an actual shoe and give it to the family's speed
demon as a "lead foot award" -- hopefully along with some cash to help
pay the ticket.
