Greetings pjmulberry-ga!
The answer is: "Red Heat" - the 1988 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger
and James Belushi.
"Red Heat page at IMDB.com":
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0095963
Here's the path I took to find the answer: First I skimmed through
the "Buses in Film" section of "The Bus Station" site, hoping that one
of the listed titles would jog my memory. The site is filled with
numerous interesting details on what types of buses have appeared on
screen. Unfortunately, they don't list the bus destinations and so I
wasn't able to find the answer to your question. The site is very
much worth checking out though:
"Buses on Screen"
http://www.busstation.net/screen/screen.htm
Next, I emailed the guy who runs the site and asked him if he knew the
answer. He was nice enough to quickly reply and suggest that it *may*
be Red Heat (since that's a film that involves a chase scene near the
end with two buses).
I did some further checking on the net and found many mentions of the
bus chase scene, but no mentions of the (original) destinations for
the buses. I did notice though that the film was mostly set in
Chicago. To me it seemed likely that there would be buses heading to
St. Louis and Montreal from a Chicago bus station. Unfortunately
though I was unable to find a conclusive connection on the web between
"Red Heat" and the destinations you asked about.
Wanting to confirm the answer, I simply went to my nearby video store,
rented the DVD, and went to the last part of the movie. Within
seconds I had my answer: the destination of the two buses are
Montreal and St. Louis.
(Note: you can view the trailer for Red Heat at
http://us.imdb.com/Trailers?0095963 - it's possible that the buses may
appear in the trailer. But the video refused to properly play on my
computer so I was unable to confirm the answer via that route.)
I hope this information is helpful. If you would like for me to
clarify any part of my answer or further research your question,
please let me know before issuing a rating. Thanks!
