Hello cycas:

I have begun to contact custom packers of jams and jellies for you to
make sure that they fit your criteria. If you could answer a couple of
questions, it would help me in my search.

1. How many vendors do you want to have listed at a minimum?

2. You say "in New England or elsewhere." How far "elsewhere" are you
willing to go? Within the U.S.? Within North America?

Thanks!

I ask about whether you'd be willing to go within North America
because there appear to be *a lot* of Canadian producers that might
fit your criteria.

Thanks.

Dear websearcher I would say about ten or more. The main thing that
they will manufacture jams or jellies to our specifications in lots
on one thousand cases or less per item.We would prefer someone located
in Massachusetts ,if there is none there then we would like someone in
New England. If there is none there then in the rest of the USA with
preference to places closest to Masschusetts and finally if none
available in the USA then Canada would be acceptable. I hope this
clarifies your query. If not please let me know and I will try to
clarify further. Thank you

Hi cycas:

Thanks for the clarification. It was very helpful. I hope to be able
to find about ten or more companies for you. I'm pretty sure that I
won't be able to find that many in MA (nor in New England) - but
hopefully at least a couple of them should be within those areas.

This search is likely to take a couple of days - especially since
we'll be going into a weekend soon. I'll keep you informed of my
progress.

Hi cyas:

I've already recieved one reply to my emails. He writes:

"Our minimum for a co-packing project would be about 10,000 lb. of
product given that we can produce the product you desire. We pack our
jams and jellies in the following pack sizes: Cases of 6-#10 cans, 2
gallon pails, 4 1/2 gallon pails and poly pouches ranging from 3-5 lb
each. (Pouches are usually packed 8 per case)"

(Not knowing how much weight is in 1000 cases) do you think these
criteria would fit your needs?

Thanks.

Hello,

I just want to add to websearcher's good work here, to emphasize the
desirability of a bit more specifics. The "1000 cases" means
different things to different people. Can you let us know the type of
packaging you want (jars, cans, pails), the number of packages per
case, and the size (ounces, pounds) of each? That would be a great
help, and would increase the likliehood of getting exactly the
information you need.

Thanks.

dear websearcher a very good question. Each case or carton consists of
twelve glass jars of 12ounces (340 grams) nett weight each. Please let
me know if you need further clrification.

Hello cycas:

Thanks for the new data. By my calculation

1000 cases x 12 jars x 340 grams = 4080 kg = 8976 pounds.

If you'd be willing to order just a little more (about 1115) cases,
then the above co-packer would be a viable alternative.

I have also received a second positive response from another
co-packer:

"If you are referring to volumes of less than 1,000 case per sku, then
the
answer is certainly yes."

Would you like me to start posting the contact information for these
manufacturers as they come - or save them until I have collected all I
can?

Thanks for your patience.

dear webshearcher thanks for your very prompt help. You could wait and
send the names addresses and phone numbers at one time once you have
got all the names. Slightly over 1000 cases would be ok but remember
they have to be packed in glass jars of 12ounces (340 grams) Nett
weight each with twelve jars to carton and made to our specificatins
with our labels on the jars. Again many many thanks for your help.

Hi cycas:

OK - thanks for the information about the 12-oz glass jars. I have
written back to my two positive responders with this new criteria. Of
course, the more stipulations we put on this product, the few
producers are going to fit the bill.

I will continue to research this over the weekend and into next week.
I will compile all the positive results when I'm done.

Thanks again for your patience.

Dear webshearcher Many thanks for you help .Even if you only find a
few co packers that can help us that will be fine.We just need a few
who will do what we need so we can contact them and see if they can
work with us.They would have to be able to make jams and jellies to
our specification and pack in glass glass jars 12ounces 340 grams
with twelve jars to a carton and with our labels on the jars. If the
minimum quantity is a little more say ten or fifteen percent more
than one thousand cartons per item it may be OK

Hi cycas:

Just a quick update....

I have received one confirmation of a co-packer who can meet your
quantity and packaging requirements, and I'm hopeful of a second one
shortly.

I will be re-contacting those I have not received any reply from later
today.

As well, I am trying to get my hands on (through our library) a
published manufacturers guide that may lead us to many other
opportunities. This might take some length of time (interlibrary
loan). Would you like me to post all the internet-found co-packers in
the meantime (once I'm done)?

Thanks.

webshearcher many thanks for your continued interest. I would think it
would be best to wait till you think you have done all you can and
then post the information .If we get even four or five companies I
think that would be enough but I leave it entirely to you I would
think after a few more days you could post the names of the
co-packers who would do what me need Again many many thanks for your
help

Hi cycas:

Just a quick update - no need to respond...

I now have a second positive response. This one is from a rep for
smaller co-packers. He syas he has two companies that can meet your
specifications. So, that makes three companies now.

As well, I have sent reminder emails to the other companies that have
not yet (fully) responded.

dear webshearcher, thank you for your continued interest and help. Once
you get four or five that fill the bill that should be enough.

on some reference material with more names.)

I have found one too. here is the email I sent them:

Hi,

Can you make jams and jellies for delivery to a New
England address in quantities of 1000 or less?

Rajeev Vinaik.

---------------------Here is there response:

Hi there? I received your inquiry. XilXXXX can certainly do as you
suggest. There is an economy of scale in numbers, however, we can do
smaller quantities too, of course.
Thank you!
