Question ID: 163929
I am putting together a private offering on a small slate of indie
films.

The attorney I've retained has suggested casting a wide net prior to
the offering for legal reasons.

I need to source some lists for "qualified investors" who have
expressed an interest in independent motion picture investements.
Lists should include complete contact info, including e-mail and
phone/fax. Quality better than quantity.

Hi -

Sources on the net seem very sparse and disjointed, with few actual
lists and means to create one. I've been able to find the following
companies, although they don't list anything but a web site and email.
Most importantly, though, I've found a source for $69 that gives you
a list of 100 independent film investors. Will this fee-based source,
coupled with the following, suffice for you?

Yes, I know what you mean. I've seen a lot of these "fill in the
blanks and we'll sell you the same 250 names no matter what you're
looking for" sites.

The fee-based source might be of interest, IF they're clearly
film-oriented and credible. Do they indicate the cost? Is it
per-record ordered (based on criteria) or a flat fee? How do they
qualify their leads?

Thanks.

The whole site is dedicated to the funding of indie films, and "looks"
credible to me. I've sent an email to them asking how they qualify
their leads.

"This area lists over 100 companies that invest in film projects. We
give the name of a person to contact, their phone, fax and address.
The list includes Production Financing, Investment Bankers, Venture
Capital, Broker/Finders and Financial Consulting."

f you are planning to make a film and you become a member, we’ll tell
you how to contact hundreds of film investors, film foundations and
grants, agencies and entertainment attorneys who can represent you and
your project.

If you have already made a film, you can become a member and list your
feature, short or documentary and catch the eye of distributors and
investors for finishing funds.

If You Are An Investor Or A Distributor
Browse our listings of features, shorts and documentaries. It costs
you nothing and you can contact the filmmakers directly by e-mail,
phone, fax or snail mail. Investors, film foundations, agencies,
attorneys, festivals and awards are all welcome to contact us to post
notices and offerings at no charge. We are happy to make them known to
our members (of course we accept no responsibility for their
authenticity, so make sure to investigate all claims thoroughly!)."

Flat rate access to the database is $69/six months.

Let me know if they e-mail you with any response about their
screening. It sounds like a reasonable possibility.

thanks...

Well, I have not received a response from them after 2 emails. You
can check out their site at www.indiefilms.com. If you want to pursue
it, you can let me know, and I'll post it as an answer.

Thanks,

Thanks. That's very fair, and appreciated. The lack of response
isn't inspiring, but one never knows...

Hi duncan_idaho-

I received an email back:

"In answer to your question, the contacts for the website have all been
researched out, through trade magazines website info from available
companies except for the list of Film festivals, that is submitted to us
via the website for upload to the website."

Are you planning on pursuing this avenue?

Thanks,
