Hello skunk!

I am interested into doing this research for you, but I have a few
questions.

1 - Do you want cities with the said population when they were
incorporated, or as they are now?

2 - Is the year that the city was incorporated sufficient information
for the date, or do you want it more accurate (month, day??)

Thanks,
    bobby_d

Hi Skunk,
I would like to give you an update of my work so far on your question.
I will be compiling this data in an Excel file format. One Workbook
which will include a number of Worksheets containing the required
information for each state. The information I will provide will
include the population as well as the date of incorporation against
each city. Since the information I am obtaining is according to the
latest population census carried out by the US Census Bureau in the
year 2000, I will be including the towns with a population of more
than 9000 if their incorporated dates are available.
Incorporation dates for some of the cities meeting with your required
criteria are available and easily accessible on the net. However,
information for many of the towns in many states require extensive
research and some correspondence with various authorities. If you are
in a hurry to receive the information, I propose to provide you with
as much as I can complete within the next 4 to 5 days, and provide the
remaining, less easily attainable information, when I get it.
Let me know what your preference is.
Best regards,
rainbow-ga

Hi Skunk,

Thank you for this very challenging question.

After an extensive and lengthy research I am confident the answer I am
posting will meet your requirement. I have produced a full and
complete list of the incorporated towns and cities in all the United
States. Compiling this list presented few problems, however, the
greatest challenge I faced was locating the date of incorporation of
each city. On the internet, there is more information referring to the
forming, founding and/or settling of cities, and even the date of
incorporation for the counties these cities are located in. However,
information concerning incorporation dates of the actual cities is
selective. You will notice that there are isolated cases where the
information regarding date of incorporation is missing. This is
because, despite exhaustive research, I have not been able to locate
the date of incorporation of those cities. I will however continue to
search for this data and will post it as and when I find it.

At the following site you will find the Excel Workbook in which I have
compiled the data you have requested. I have divided up the Workbook
into 14 Worksheets listing the states in alphabetical order. Where
available, I have included the precise date of incorporation.

Whew! This will be quite a bit of research for the researcher who
chooses to take it on. I did for a while, but then I realized that
there are 400 incorporated places in California alone which fit the
population criteria, so therefore thousands nationwide. And to look
up the incorporation date for all of them... Good luck :)
