I want to simply find one or more reference sites which detail:
1.Different types of military engineering equipment in use in
countries in SEA, excluding China, Australia and NZ
2.Numbers of these types of equipment.

Cheers

I saw your other post asking why there's no activity on this question.
I'll try to give you my perspective:

--there's very little definition here: what is "military engineering
equipment", what numbers are you looking for, what do you mean by
"types", which countries are important you?

--why do you want the numbers -- knowing this would help understand
the context of your question.

--my own gut reaction is that there is no such database in existence,
and if it does exist, it's most likely in private hands and not
available on the internet.

When a question has a little bit of room for interpretation, the
researchers are very willing to jump in and ask for clarification.
But on some questions, we don't even know quite where to start. For
me...this is one of those questions.

I don't mean this to be overly blunt. I'd love to answer your
question and collect your $40.00 (well...75% of it, anyway). But as
it currently stands, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Hope these comments are some help, and good luck with this.

pafalafa-ga, thank you for your response.
I understand that this is a broad question, and a single database may
not exist.
In terms on defining it a little more accurately. I am trying to
ascertain what equipment each country owns in its military to enable
it to build, break or fix various things.
I am trying to find out what type of: mobility (bridging/rafting
vehicles/equip), counter-mobility (minelaying/ditching
vehicle/equipment, sustainability (water purification equipment,
construction plant i.e excavator/bulldozers) equipment or vehicles are
currently owned/used/operated in the following countries in Southeast
Asia, including but not exhaustive: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam,
Malaysia, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Laos,
Cambodia, Phillipines.

When i say type I need the model and make. i.e PMR-3 Minelayer.

Thankyou.

Thanks...that helps. I'm still doubtful such a database exists that
is publicly accessible. If you can point me to any such database, for
any country, anywhere, I can look it over, get familiar with it, and
then see if I can find others for SE Asia.

Without that sort of lead though, I'll have to leave this one to
another researcher.

Best of luck.

Hi 3cer,

Thanks for your clarifications. Unfortunately, I know very little
about the military, so I'm definitely the wrong person to answer your
question authoritatively, but one possible place for you to start to
look is

Jane's Data Services
http://www.janes.com/

As far as I know, they are the one place for declassified military
data. Skimming through their publicly available database it doesn't
seem that they have your data in a neatly pubished report, but they
might be able to help you out. Perhaps you can try to get in touch
with them directly:

Good luck with your MA thesis!

Thanks Palafala-ga. I have already done Janes to death and talked to
some of their researchers. Although i have found sites such as
http://indoforce.tripod.com/ad_land.htm which detail the types of
engineering equipment found in a particular countries (indonesia)
orbat. I cant seem to find any sites which break these down into
individual unit numbers. But thanks anyway.
