I would like to know the following:
1. What are the import rules, regulations and tariffs for importing
Dulce de Leche (a caramel like milk product) from Argentina into the
US
2. What Dulce de Leche brands (Argentinian, Mexican and other
countries) are currently being sold in the US
3. Who are the distributors currently distributing Dulce de Leche?

Thanks for the start...Yes, Im familiar with Exportar.gov as Ive been
to the office in BsAs.
My main needs are learning what the import rules/reg are for dulce de
leche to the US.
If you can find more specifics for that (ie tariffs, certificate
regulations, requirements, etc) that would be great.
Also, this Unión Industrial del Gran La Plata sounds interesting and
maybe they have info online or talking to someone there.
Since Im here in BsAs I can call them although you may have a better
idea since you are Argentinian and speak perfect spanish
So you know, these are some of the brands already imported to the US
that I know of..since your the search expert and if argentian, most
likely a dulce de leche expert like everyone here :), maybe these will
help you find the import rules and what they had to go through to get
into the US. FYI, I ve been to the Salamndra website...

Hi Matt!!
I found more info to bring, I am not know if it is important or not,
because this topic is new for me.
The HTS Number appears to be 19019042 (need to confirm it, the other
possibility is 19019020), you can see details about tariffs here:
http://dataweb.usitc.gov/scripts/tariff2003.asp
Just copy the HTS number in the search box and click detail button in
the page that will be open.
This item (also the 19019020) is not eligible for the Generalized
System of Preferences (GSP) for Argentina because it has a coe status
A+, to be eligible for the GPS it must be code A or A* and Argentine
must be not included in the exceptions list. There is a petition in
course, presented by Sancor Coop Ltda (case number 2001-SR-04), to
include this item to be eligible for the GSP for Argentina (to not
paid import rights).
I also found the following info (Argentina export taxes):
Right of exportacion 5%
Reimbursement 6% (in packages equal or less than 5 kg)
5% (in packages greater than 5 kg)

In Argentina this number (posicion arancelaria) is 1901.90.20 and in
the USA is 1901.90.42
