I want to see a directory listing of objects (and possibly links) in a
given web folder. Assume I have permission to access that folder (ie
not pw protected). Don't want to use the html in that folder. Running
IE6. Prefer a simple solution that does not involve downloading or
installing new software. A very basic Answer will do for five stars.

Greetings, spurious!

Here's a quick-and-easy utility that I've been using for ages:

From the Antibiotics For Rheumatic Disease Support Group:
"How To Print A Directory Listing From Windows Explorer"
http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/6412/PrintDirectory.htm

*****
A slight change to these instructions:
In newer versions of Windows, the "File Folder" type may appear
alphabetically under N for "N/A" rather than F for "File Folder".

Click on "N/A File Folder", then click "Advanced", then click "New"
and follow the rest of the instructions.
*****

Once you've got this set up, when you're in Windows Explorer, you can
right-click on the folder in the left-hand folder list in Windows
Explorer and select "Print Directory Listing".

Note that:
- this will start your printer almost IMMEDIATELY
- this will print shortcut names (not URLs)
- because this print is done in DOS, if the file name
is more than 8 characters, it will appear as "filnam~1"
- you may need to adjust your Notepad default print
properties (margins, font size, portrait vs. landscape
layout) to get the printout to look the way you wish.

You're friend's right. I'm talking about website browsing.
Nevermind, this is an excellent application in its own right. I've
used the pipe batch command in a DOS window for years, but now I can
do it from Win Explorer. That's worth $2 at least to me anyway, so
leave your answer up and I'll repost my question more clearly.

Thanks for your gracious acceptance of my Answer, spurious!

I hope that another Researcher will be able to provide you with
exactly what you need as well.

Are you referring to being able to print a "directory" of all the
pages in a website? If so, I recommend that you include that statement
in your new Question.

Best Wishes!

Not exactly the answer I was looking for, but a great idea that was
worth the money nevertheless!
