Since Google Answers is temporarily not accepting additional applications to become a Researcher, I am looking for other Sites that still accept Researcher-Applications! errol-ga provided a great list of sites in his answer: http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=207306 Thanks errol-ga! While searching, I found even more Sites like http://www.eLance.com But where to start? I am now looking for "Researchers" who have tryed multiple Sites and are willing to share their oppinion regarding those Sites in form of a Top 10 List. Maybe with short comments regarding the reason of the ranking. | |

Dear tvfan, First of all, my I clarify, that jeudemots is not a Google Researchers. If you read previous posts to this site, you probably know that Researchers are signified by a blue link on their name, so that you could know more about their previous answers, if you wish to. I used to provide service in several "ask an expert" sites. Currently, I am "working" solely on Google Answers. I must say that I was pretty dissapointed to see most of these sites deteriorate into sites that sold mainly answers on the supernatural (and I don't mean sociological, theological or psychological analysis on the belief in the supernatural) or sold homework. However, despite this feeling of mine, I must say that the following are known to give some assitance: Yahoo! Advice, which I really enjoyed, is now united with Keen into a LiveAdvice telephone service - http://advice.yahoo.com/ Kasamaba was also found to be helpful in finding Researcher jobs. However, my best advice to a freelance researcher is not only to count on these sites, but to seek other "gigs". In general, academic message boards (like the ones in H-Net - http://www.h-net.msu.edu ) offer plenty of jobs for researchers, either permanent positions or opportunities to write freelance for money. If you have completely no problem in writing custom academic papers, you might enquire this category (I haven't done it from the reasons I mentioned above, but the pay must be good and steady): http://directory.google.com/Top/Reference/Education/Products_and_Services/Academic_Papers/Fee_Based/?tc=1 Lastly, several libraries (for example, the Library of Congress) hold a file with information on freelance Researchers. Again, you should contact them to get a job. If you're hooked into giving an online service, I'd suggest Keen and Kasamba. If you are prepared to try other things, look into my alternative offers. Reagarding Google Answers, I'll give you a hint (although I am not a decision maker and have no idea if this hint is helpful at all): people who are extremely helpful in the comments section have been found to be "upgraded" when there was a vacancy. |

TVfan, Take a close look at each of those sites and you will find that even the worst of the lot expects you to be able to figure out how to apply. If you can't find that simple information, how do you expect to be an 'expert' or answer any questions? The first test is if you have to ask, you are not ready to apply. As for elance, what talents can you bring to them and then underbid everyone else to win a project? If you expect to get a chance there, you have to be able to figure out how to cut your prices to the barebones and compete with others with a lot more experience. Give some serious thought to what you want to do and then start looking around for the best ways to market your talents. Everyone has to start somewhere, and most people aren't lucky enough to find a benefactor to offer them shortcuts. Dig in and prove your mettle. And good luck, Jeude |

Jeude, I have no problems with figuring out how to apply! With "But where to start?" I ment NOT "how to apply?" I ment, with WHAT SITES should I START?, like "What Sites are the Best?" and "What Sites are a waste of Time?" >As for elance, what talents can you bring to them and then underbid >everyone else to win a project? I am not looking for anything regarding "My Talents" in this Question! For Sites regarding "My Talents" I might open another Question later. I am only looking for ONE Google-Researcher who has tryed multiple Sites and is willing to share his or her PERSONAL OPPINION regarding those Sites in form of a Top 10 List. Maybe with short comments regarding the reason of the ranking. Since I am only asking for the PERSONAL OPPINION This is an easy way to get 5 Stars and $2 |
