In the Google search window if I start to type a work say with the
letter "e" it lists all the searches I've done in the past. I would
like to turn this off or be able to erras parts of the list so that
others will not know were I've been. How do I do this?

What you are decribing is the "search history" feature. While some
users find it convenient, others (myself included) view it as a
nuisance. Fortunately, it is not difficult to clear your search

Below is information that will help you to delete your history in
three ways. If you are using the Google Toolbar, you may need only the
first, and easiest method.

----= To delete your search history from the Google Toolbar =----

Click the Google logo to access the drop-down menu.

Select the 'Clear Search History' option.

Here's how to eliminate the Google Toolbar's search history so that
you don't have to clear it after each use:

Click the Google logo on the Toolbar. Select 'Toolbar Options.' You'll
see three boxes, labeled thus:

 * Keep a search history in a drop-down list under the search box
 * Preserve the search history across browser sessions
 * Automatically run a search when you select from the search history

If you "uncheck" the top box, the one that says "Keep a search
history," the search history feature will be turned off. If, in the
future, you want it back, just click the same box to turn the feature
on again.

----= To delete your search history from the Google homepage =----

This is not done by Google itself, but by a feature of Internet
Explorer called AutoComplete. Here are instruction for turning off

Go to the Tools menu.

Select Internet Options.

Select the Content tab.

Within the Personal Information area, select 'AutoComplete'.

Click on 'Clear Forms'. You can also uncheck the 'Forms' box in the
same window to keep this information from being stored in the future.

Alternatively, you can delete individual entries from your search
history by using the down arrow key to select a previous search, then
pressing the Delete key once an unwanted search is highlighted.

----= To delete your search history from Internet Explorer =----

Go to the Tools menu.

Select Internet Options.

Click the 'General' tab.

Click the 'Clear History' button. To completely disable the history
function, change the "Days to keep pages in history" to 0 (zero.)

Here you'll find more information about using the Google Toolbar:

In some cases, when the Autocomplete feature shows you a drop-down box
of previous entries, if you select a particular entry and hit the
Delete key it will be removed from the Autocomplete list. Whether or
not this works depends on which box you happen to be using it on (for
example, it does work in Internet Explorer's address bar, but not in
Netscape's). Not sure if it works on the Google Toolbar.
