And Epinions shows a color laser that should work in this environment:

As Genicom seems to make the most models for this environment, I
visited their pages and laser models:
http://www.genicom.com/products/laser.htm

You can view their products and also search the site for your
requirements, then locate a dealer for you model of choice.

Search Strategy:

"laser printer" +vax OR vms +buy OR order

Hopefully, one of these printers will fit your need.

The LNCO2 is not available any longer even third party...In my
original request I forgot to specify color, so I am glad you looked
into it on you own initiative. If you could find a LNCO2 "form, fit,
and function" replacement,.. well.. that would be sweet!... even a
supplier that has a bunch of them would be good...

If you can help me clear this up I will be most obliged.

Hello again Casper,

Thank you for the rating and tip.

I made a few calls on your behalf this morning:

I called Compaq, now HP at 800-752-0900 and asked about the LNC02.
During this call I continued to research online and found the Compaq
LNC02 is actually made by Genicom.

HP claimed it is no longer available new and there was no replacement.
I inquired about reburbished and I was transferred to the Compaq pre
merger support line: 1-800-652 6672. Two more transfers later, I am
awaiting a return call.

I then called Genicom - 1-800-GENICOM. And got answers.

The Genicom CL-160 will work with with Vax VMS!! You will need the
Open VMS driver, DCPS version 2.1 or above. This is available from HP
if you do not have a current version of the driver, call HP.

CL-160
http://www.genicom.com/products/pocl160.htm

This sells for $2599 base price at list.

Options are available at this page:
http://genie.genicom.com/products/productind.cfm?PFamily=cl160

Genicom says that HP is now porting VMS to their new processor
(Titanium?), so support for these products should continue.

And check this page for drivers and tech notes:
http://www.genicom.com/support/laser.htm

Good luck with your printer needs.

casper320-ga rated this answer:4 out of 5 stars and gave an additional tip of: $10.00
I should have given the five star rating... the work was exceptional.
The only problem is that is that I did not give the researcher enough
information. I hope I have corrected that.

"Titanium"? What was meant here was Intel's Itanium processor.

Support for laser printers on VMS is typically handled through the
"DECprint Supervisor for hp OpenVMS" as it is now called. You can
find the Software Product Description for this at
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/info/SP4415/SP4415PF.PDF , in which you'll
see a long list of supported laser printers.

There's lots of good information about OpenVMS at
http://openvms.compaq.com/ (there should be a more plausible hp.com
address for this but I can't locate it right now.
