I am looking for the Fall 1980 issue of the magazine Popular Science &
Mechanics. This issue features a color picture of the Power-Wheel on
the front cover and contains a story somewhere inside the magazine
showing the inventor Gayr S. Goldman holding up a prototype. I would
like a color photocopy or bitmap scan of the cover along with the
article or the magazine itself. |

Hello,
Are you looking for an online copy of the article you mention or a
place where you can purchase a back issue?

I am looking for any possiblity: (a) an online copy of the article,
(b) a location where I can purchase or borrow the back issue, or (c)
any other possible manner to get a hold of the issue. Let me also
correct the name of the inventor--it is Gary S. Goldman.

A collector advised me that he will contact me today (or in the next
couple of days). He indicated that he thought he has the issue you are
seeking. I asked him to send me a scan of the cover and he said he
would. I'll get back to you as soon as I receive the image and contact
information. I also believe the magazine will be very fairly priced.

The "Power-Wheel" is an electromagnet motor that is contained within
the hub of an automobile wheel. You should see this color illustration
on the cover. I will gladly pay a fair price for this magazine.

Just an update...no news as of this evening (8pm CST) but I anticipate
something soon. It appears that this collector has back issues for
sale for approximately US$5 (he didn't mention it specifically but
normally one should be prepared to pay a nominal shipping fee as
well). Cost to a US destination will probably be under US$8 total.
I'll let you know as soon as I confirm the scanned cover image and
obtain more information as to availability.

Even $10.00 fee for the actual magazine is quite reasonable. Look
forward to hearing from you soon. If he had more than one copy, I
would take two!

Well, unfortunatley it's back to the drawing board. The source said
that this particular issue is not in his collection or has already
been sold.
I wish I could have helped.

Gary --
In what city are you? The best bet for a researcher is probably to
find good reference library with Popular Science archived back to
1980. I know a local library here in Snohomish County, WA has it but
I suspect you're thousands of miles from here . . .
Best regards,

I am still very interested in obtaining the Fall, 1980 issue of the
Popular and Science Mechanics issue with the color picture of the
"Power Wheel" on the front cover. My name, Gary S. Goldman is
mentioned in an article within the magazine with my picture showing a
model of the unit.
