Do you need one built from scratch or would links to downloading
already made ones be acceptable as an answer? -shiva777

it would help researchers if you specified what functions the bot was
to perform: channel administration vs file serving and queueing etc.

I have searched the web for ready made mIRC bots and downloaded a
number of them. Never can seem to make them work or maybe their just
too complex for me. What I want is a bot that I can program to greet
newcommers and send a good bye message when they depart; Communicate
channel rules and/or messages; and I want the ability to 'speak'
through the bot if I choose. I want these functions to be as simple
as possible, and I would like the bot's capabilities to be expandable.
I am willing to up the price to $50 for someone willing to help me
find and use an existing bot, or program a new one for me with easy to
follow instructions.

Do you alreday have a shell account? It's a personal account on a
server that is always connected to the Internet, and runs your bot all
day long. They usually use the Unix OS. If you haven't done it yet, I
strongly recommend you visit the following link:
What is an eggdrop?
http://www.egghelp.org/whatis.htm
Now, if you're actually looking for a program that performs the
actions you describe only while you are online (and on IRC), then
perhaps you a mIRC script would better suit your needs.
Please tell me if you would like a proper bot that runs all the time
(which requires a shell account) or a script.

I want a bot not a script. I do not have a shell account, but I
assume if I contact the sys op of the server, I could arrange that.
Could you help me find or design the kind of bot I am looking for?

I think I can help you design a bot that matches your needs. I have to
warn you, though, that bots are usually not "welcome" in IRC servers.
On EfNet, for example, bots are banned altogether, and using one there
could cause the system to kick you. If you're planning to register a
channel on Undernet, you shouldn't bother with a bot, as the Undernet
servers provide you with bots that do what you need.
So, before we go on with this question, are you sure bots are allowed
in the server you're planning to set it up?
Best regards,

I am sure my server allows bots. I will try and set up a shell
account. Please contact me and we will move forward.\

Until you get your shell account configured, there is a program that
can be run directly from your PC. Of course, you would need to leave
your computer always turned on for the bot to be up all time. The bot
can be downloaded at:
YourBot IRC Bot
http://ybbot.chatcircuit.com/
It's very easy to install and use, just follow the tutorial that's
included in the page. The problem with this bot (besides the fact that
you need to keep your PC on all the time) is that it has rather
limited options. Of the features you require in one of the
clarifications, this bot can only greet people when they enter the
channel (not when they leave) and you can speak "through" the bot. No
messages or channel rules on demand.
I've located some more bot, but they require a shell account, as they
work on UNIX OS. Please let me know if you're comfortable with the
"bot" provided above, as I think it could be possible, through mIRC
scripts, to design a bot that works in that way (that is, from your
PC) that fulfills your requirements.
Best regards,
