I am having difficulty shipping my 85 pound dog to Puerto Rico. Airlines won't fly him if the temp is greater than 85 deg and cruise lines want a seeing eye dog. Since this is August temperatures are always above 85 when these flights leave. He also has to fly cargo because of his weight. We checked charter flights. Cheapest was $6000 and 5 hours in a Twin Cessna. We also checked Pet Air.com and another place out of Kansas to no avail (they advertise pet shipping but they are only brokering for the cargo companies.) This is becoming critical as we are leaving August 8. Please help.... Thanks, John | |

Hi marinero_joven-ga, Shipping a dog in the summer is a problem. I answered a similar question at the following link. Perhaps reading it might help you. Travel with a dog (over 20 lbs.) between AZ and NY http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=217492 Good luck to you, tlspiegel |

Just a thought, and of course it depends on where the dog is being shipped from... How about having the dog driven to Florida, and then having a charter BOAT sail him/her across to Puerto Rico? Or else, finding somewhere to board the dog until late September or so, when the weather is cooler. |
