I am writing a computer application to check to see if one name is a nickname match of another - i.e. 'Rick' is a match to 'Richard'. I will then transfer this list of names into a SQL Server 2000 database. I have a small scale version working already - and I have found that the best way is to have "group_no"'s and "names". For example, the table might look like this: Group_no Names ________ _____ 1 Richard 1 Rick 1 Dick 1 Ric 2 Steve 2 Steven 2 Stephen 3 Abe 3 Abraham 3 Abram etc... The problem is that I am looking for an exhaustive list of nicknames and can't seem to find one. The closer the researcher finds to the format of *groups* of names (i.e. what I've shown above), the better. I currently have 438 groups of names in my database - but I need a much, much bigger set than that. Thank you, Lazer | |

Here's one list, but you probably already have most of these: http://www.usgenweb.org/researchers/nicknames.html |
