In the early 70's my mother and I had crushes on an Italian tennis
player named Adriano Panatta. I think we watched him play at
Wimbledon, but am not sure about that, and that's *all* I remember
about him. The other day I ran across a postcard in an old scrapbook
with his picture on it, and it took me right back! I'm interested in
information about his tennis career, and in any information that might
be available about him since he retired from competition. It would
be fun to surprise my mother with both the old postcard and the
information. Thanks!

Thank you! You did a lot of digging in a short amount of time, and
found some good references. One for example, reminded me that it must
have been Wimbledon in 1972 when we were rooting for him (to no avail)
to beat Jimmy Connors! And the piece of Wimbledon trivia was an
unexpected gem. By the way...is that Portuguese on that Google images
page?
