I am looking for a list of companies who are celebrating significant
anniversaries in 2004, 2005, and 2006

Hi, 

The way I compiled this list is using the Google API. I did a search
using this tool for all the company history pages available. Turns out
the maximum return was 1000 pages. Taking each of these URL's I used
Perl to search the page for the lowest year value found on the page.
After going through a good deal of these listings I found that the
lowest year value was normally the beginning date of the company. I
then checked this year value to see if it was a significant date for
the years 2004, 2005, and 2006. This check was for 5. 10, 25, 50, 75,
100, 125, 150, 175 and 200.

This worked so well I created a few more queries and complied a list
of 2800+ company history pages and ran the program again.

You can certainly ask Forbes Magazine, Wall Street Journal, USA News,
Dunn & Bradstreet, ask someone at Reuters, etc. although they would
have to run a specific search for you (their computers probably could
handle that.  And, they might even want to do a story on it
themselves.  Or contact someone in the TV News industry who does
"60-minutes".

Interested to see how you got on with this. 
I'm also looking for something similar, and was surprised that the
list above only threw up the names of relatively minor institutions.

I spent several weeks in the main Toronto reference Library
researching incorporation dates of major companies. I came up with a
list of around 25 (mostly Canadian) but was trying to branch out to
include more American and European companies. So far, other than this,
not a lot of luck.
