chrysler used to have a functional approach to designing and producing
its cars. This way slowed down the product-development process and
made cross-functional communication difficult and slow.
The company's top managers began to search for a new way of organizing
its value creation activities to turn the company around.
Chrysler studied Honda's system and report back on its operation.
Chrysler created its new product-team structure and had a turnaround
in the 1990s.
