good background reading and product reviews, to lay out the market
place, but I was hoping for more direct responses to my questions

I was hoping the researcher would have hands-on experience with one or
more designers, but I guess that's asking a lot.  The web sites listed
to 'source' a designer are very well known and don't really answer my
question.  The links to the actual designers are what I was looking
for -- although I wish the researcher actually knew something about
the designers listed.  I'm still taking a stab in the dark trying to
pick a designer from one of these.

This looks outstanding. Thanks for the great effort under a short
timeframe.

The researcher provided useful information but did not seem to read my
question or comment as carefully as he or she could.  Specifically,
the responses continued to discuss air baths, even though I never said
I was interested in them and, in my clarification, said I was only
interested in water jets.  Also, I was aware of the Consumer Reports
article and mentioned it in my original post.

Still, I appreciate the information.

the question was a bit obtuse on my part and finding the
"needles-in-the-haystack" answers not realistic for the relatively low

czh -- yes, Kaffe Fasset comes from the family who owns the Nepenthe
Restaurant and Phoenix Gift shop in Big Sur, CA near where I grew up. 
His creations were in that shop way back in the dark ages and I was a
teenager and used to drool over them, but he's done just amazing
things since then.  Yes, I will be 'empty nesting' but my resources
are somewhat limited at the moment; we'll see. Right now I'm knitting
an heirloom (40's) style camisole undershirt with 50/50 angora and
silk; elegant and simple.

A very comprehensive answer, thank you.  There were plenty of good
references in the response that I can use.  The only reason why I
haven't given five stars is that not all of the links were useful.
However, in all fairness, I suspect the researcher would have to be a
subject matter expert to have been able to assess each link as I have.

Thank you very much, this is very helpful.  Some of these I am
familiar with, but the Buros site will give me more to explore.

Wow. Thank you for all these resources, I now see LA is a much more
complex city than my short stays there had shown me. I guess I now
have some research to do ;-) These are great pointers and will help me
get the hang of my scenario. I might be back later for questions about
very specific details ;-)
