Category: Computers Rating and comments by: prz-ga |
Your answer was fine as I to am aware of "ghost". Since cd's only hold 750 mb, I would need 24 cds to duplicate all the info on my hard drive. There must be a better way. |

Will my Outlook and Word problems be fixed if I upgrade to new Office? I have XP
Category: Computers Rating and comments by: bbb-ga |
This seems like a thorough and complete answer--with one further point to ask. The answer began by saying "Upgrading to Office XP should fix your problem...." -- but not did elaborate enough on that option. In other words, it's fairly certain that using my older versions of Word and Outlook, with an XP operating, is causing them to crash or behave oddly? Is this a known situation, or actually an educated supposition? So if I got Office for XP, it is very likely that these problems will be ended? (I should probably clarify that I don't have the whole Office suite even now. I have Word and Outlook, individually. So to get Office XP for me will not be an upgrade, as a suite; I'd be buying the whole suite for the first time. I'm willing to do that (shopping on the Internet for a good price is not difficult, at least) because I've noticed that if you allow programs to get more than a few years old, you run into problems of compatibility, etc., everywhere--and I use word processing and e-mail in my work. Whew. Long followup. Anyway, I'm looking for some reassurance that getting Office will likely fix things (I realize there's no certainty in computers) and then I'll do it. Thanks |

Astronomical Query
Category: Science > Astronomy Rating and comments by: pathosman-ga |
I appreciate the research put into the answer. I must admit I was hoping someone would write a computer program to predict the answers, but that's asking a lot for only 10 bucks. Thanks. When you're not answering research questions, do you moonlight as an elf in the JRR trilogies? |

I think he jumped the gun accepting this question, I got a lot of advice on how to do something completely different from what I asked. I needed someone who had implemented something like what I had done. I think he was definitely trying to help, but ended up suggesting solutions that I had already tried to avoid. |

What's my username?
Category: Computers > Internet Rating and comments by: skermit-ga |
Thank you for helping me to illustrate the question/answer process with a sample question. Just for curiousity's sake, I also got my username or handle from a little known file transfer protocol which was named Super Kermit, the sucessor to Kermit on computer bulletin boards (BBSs) which was used long before the popularity of the internet and it's file protocols (FTP, etc.). |

Dear legolas, First, thank you for your effort to answer me, I really appritiate that. Second, sorry for the low price I offer, because I'm just a college students, I can't offer good price in correspond with the plenty of time you work on it. Sorry for that. Third, the references are not in one or similar topic as I mentioned in the question. I mean the topic should be all about EFL reading, for example. But it's my fault. I'll take the answers, thank u again! |

Re Explorer: How do I un-get the AOL version? and why does history disappear?
Category: Computers > Software Rating and comments by: bbb-ga |
Very knowledgeable, very thorough (at least, looks that way to me!). Only trouble is, I wanted an answer that would simplify things, and this one seems to make it clear that using these "solutions" might make things worse...(!). Of course, that seems realistic, in terms of computers--unfortunately--which is why this answer seems quite authoritative. It does leave me uncertain, but I think that's the fault of reality and not of the answerer. (Unless the answerer WAS reality, which is possible. Google has a wide reach.) If anyone has a happier, simpler answer, or knows a happier, simpler reality--which may be the same thing--I'll be happy to hear about it. I'm still hoping... |
