Windows 95 UK Release Date
Category: Computers > Operating Systems Rating and comments by: mralston-ga |
Thank you very much. This has been a long running dispute between myself and a colleague. As I recall, it came out about August 1995, because it was just after my birthday and I remember that for some reason Dixons in the UK did not stock it until a day later (which stuck me as a bit daft from a business point of view)! My colleague on the other hand is convinced it was July 1996. He remembers quite vividly that first of all it was called Windows 95 and not released until 96, and more specifically the he and a few others took PC World to the Trading Standards Commission because they had an advertising policy which claimed they sold Windows 95, before it was available in their's or anyone else's shops! So again, thank you for proving me right. Matt |

Help me start my computer again! system.ini not found
Category: Computers > Operating Systems Rating and comments by: genki2-ga |
Wow! I just can't believe I got such a complete answer in 26 minutes- where else can you get service like this? Unfortunately, the easier two options didn't work for me but entering the data from the third option did the job. Seizer-ga, you'll be happy to know I am back up and completing this rating on my laptop at home:) Thank you! One post script...it would have been helpful to know that in order to type the "upside down and backwards L" character I had to hold Alt and type 170. (called a friend on that one- of course I would have asked you had I been able to get online at home) Anyway- just know that you are appreciated:) |

Color Correction/Brightness Settings in Desktop/Properties
Category: Computers > Operating Systems Rating and comments by: phantazem-ga |
Fantastic job! I had been unable to find a solution to my problem anywhere and you handed it me in less than 10 minutes after I posted the question! IT people I know just shrugged their shoulders, not knowing where to look first. Nothing came up after searching Microsoft knowledgebase, and I couldn't even get a response on Microsoft Newsgroups! Payment well deserved. Thanks Seizer & thanks Google! |
