Poor evasive answer that tries to tell me what I should have asked
rather than answering what I did ask. If I had other resources, I
would not have used this service. He also refers to a link to an
answer that when clicked gives "There is no answer at this time.".
Even this little bit was not worth $2.

Thank you for the advice on contour and vector integrals; the reason I
didn't want to deal with them is that I'm only 17 and I'm currently
quite busy learning lots of other maths [exam in < 1 month]. In other
words, I've haven't used them before and I don't really have time to
learn just now. But thank you nonetheless.

I've checked the units, and I get realistic answers when I convert
from SI to inches, so I'm happy with that, too.

Goodbye, and thank you for all your help.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you understood my question, and I
slowly was able to understand yours. Thank you to the others for your
contributions as well. (And no, I get no A+, no longer being a
physics student... but sometimes some things that I was supposed to
learn still haunt me and demand resolution.) Thanks again.

To racecar.ga your thoughts and complete breakdown of the notes and
colors is an exceptional resource for me in my field. Also, thank you
for your follow up. Outstanding!
Hedgie-ga, Thanks for the clarification and your brain on this. I got
it! racecar provided the foundation and you provided the map to
expand on this issue. I have no idea what researchers would charge
for this information but here's at least another $25.00 for your work.
You guys (or girls?) are great!

Thanks,
Rick

I appreciate the work Hedgie did, however it didn't pertain to exactly

You inquired as to what I was up to. You can determine that from my
web page: www.drrobertbaker.com or from www.gravwave.com. Simply put:
I am designing a high-frequency gravitational wave (HFGW) generator.
The basic equation (the quadrupole published by Einstein in 1916) to
determine the HFGW power when modified is: 1.76 times ten to the -52
times the quantity: twice the radius of gyration (m) of an array of
masses times a change in force (N)on them divided by the time (s) to
achieve that force change, squared (power in watts). The concept is to
situate the masses along a ring, jerk them (delta force divided by
delta time) tangentially and then detect the HFGW along the axis of
the ring. If the pulses are in a continuous train then the jerk is
delta force times the frequency of the train, hence the need for high
frequency. I have been casting about (often with your help) for
devices to achieve very short duration force pulses (the shorter the
better – femtosecond and attosecond – THZ and PHz are good). I have
looked at energizing/energizable elements consisting of air-core coils
surrounding a permanent magnet mass, photons “banging” back and forth
in a laser, etc. with the objective to obtain large jerks and also to
find a means to power the energizing elements. I am still searching.
Thanks for you help. Bob Baker

Good answer, Grass seems good, though I suspect it is more a high end
processor application, a little above the 'limited' processor
mentioned. This was perhaps unclear on my part, as I was meaning
embedded 16bit processors, not 'full' 32/64 bit processors running a
full operating system, for which there would be many ways to represent
GIS data, such as Grass. No comment on the 'proposed' solution, though
I suspect my unclear use of 'limited' caused you to consider splines
as the best solution by far, though they seem advanced for more
limited processors to deal with (Just as they would struggle with
Fourier).

Your comments on patents are valid and appreciated, and a timely
reminder. I query your comment 'within a year' - are you suggesting
published means published for long enough to invalidate novel claims,
IE most Patents allow 'breifly' or recently listed material without
invalidating it, but if it is up long enough (a year on a less visited
site for example) it will knock out the claims? Never the less your
caution is valued.
