this researcher provided exactly what i asked for

indeed it does and thanks for running this down.  strange details get
stuck in granny's brain and this was one of them.  hadn't read much on
the background of this film but it is certainly one that gets under
your skin and stays there.  Farnsworth's has led quite the interesting
life.  wouldn't mind seeing his story on the screen sometime.  thanks
for delving into those musty newspapers, sparky.  p.s. soundtrack is
still on my list.

Thank you for some very interesting information. I would like to say
however the worst person to give an objective answer on this subject
is Jocelyn Bell!
She after all will not wish to offend her prior supervisor or indulge
in what would look like self praise.
It is however clear from the information you have researched that she
was the person who discovered the first Pulsars. It is also true that
Hewish provided
much of the direction and infrastructure for the discovery. I
therefore do not dispute the fact that Hewish should have shared in
the prize.
It remains however a total abomination that she did not share the
prize with Hewish.
This regrettable situation however can be corrected simply by awarding
her the nobel prize (for Physics)in at some point in the immediate
future.
