Thanks for anwering the question so fast!  This is definately the
movie I was thinking of.  I even remember there being something about
the ray being named "Diablo," but failed to include that information
when I asked the question.  I guess I didn't recognize it on IMDB
because they don't provide a description of the movie.

information about this book (a very special book to me), without
success. I plan to come back after payday (sorry!) and give you a tip
as well! You rock! Cannot thank you enough. And you seem to have found
it so easily! I tried looking on the Nibrary of Congress myself, but I
am no researcher, I guess! Well done!!! I have been looking for this

Although the picture still doesn't look a lot like the man I met who

This turned out to be tougher than first thought as there was another
book with a very similar plot line.  The answerer, juggler-ga, kept
with me through my clarifications and doubts, and kept searching.  In
the end he found the answer, and I couldn't be happier

Good Job.  Expected a little more detail in answer from researcher
