My first try on this service. Since I'm looking for "derivation" the
answer from 1868 COULD be correct, or it mightn't be. I guess when one
person answers that "closes the door" to another researcher who may
have found a better answer, but diden't submit it in time?

Great black and white photos!  Thanks very much!  Please let me know
if you ever find color photos anywhere from 1942-1952.  The
exceptional thing my family remembers were the trucks loaded with
green peas coming past our house in the middle of summer.  As kids we
would chase them down main street!

Thank you very much. The name of the song had been bothering me for
quite some time and I was extremely glad to finally get an answer.

The answer was pretty good, but the population surveyed was the Forbes
400.  That's probably a good proxy for the richest 1% of Americans,
but it's not exactly what I was hoping for.
