Thank you!  You did a lot of digging in a short amount of time, and
found some good references.  One for example, reminded me that it must
have been Wimbledon in 1972 when we were rooting for him (to no avail)
to beat Jimmy Connors!  And the piece of Wimbledon trivia was an
unexpected gem.  By the way...is that Portuguese on that Google images
page?

Great answer, but I'm confused by the mechanics of Google Answer. 
Does the researher get the $4 as soon as he answers the question or
does he not get paid until I'm satisfied?  Can 2 researchers compete
to see who has the "fastest finger" in trying to answer a question
first?  Or does Google assign questions to approved researchers?  I
looked in the FAQs but didn't get a clear answer about these things.

Thanks for your list of suggestions. Unfortunately none of these
expedients have stood my in good stead over the years. Your #4 is what
I usually have recourse to, but, brrrrrrrr, the water is cold around
here.  Waxing seems to have helped a little but doesn't have much
effect on our aggressive barnacles for more than a couple of weeks so
that isn't much use on long cruises under sail. The real answer to my
question is, alas, there is no proven prop treatment.

I was impressed with the clarification. The initial answer gave me
much less information, but the clarification was enough to bump up the
rating. Although I didn't get the answers to many of the original
questions I asked, I did get some links and suggestions to point me in
the right direction. Again, I realize that my question was difficult
and I appreciate the time you took to answer it!
