Thank you, Knowledge Seeker.  I consider that to be a thoughtful and
thorough answer to my question.  The combination of yama-niyama sutras
and present-day anecdotes covers the ground nicely, and the emphasis
on prevention is intuitively sound.  And as for the extremes, if even
the Jains make exceptions, then by my lights it must be okay.

Thanks also to the other commenters for sharing their understandings,
and especially to journalist for the practical preventive suggestions.

Hi, thx K.  It's actually called "Organ Donor Puppy."  It consists of
a cute little puppy plush.  If you open the velcro on it's tummy, you
can pull out its intestines, heart, kidneys etc., all with a "ripping"
noise from the velcro.

Thanks for that knowledge -seeker.  Yes I spent ages checking out the
site on confluences and found it most interesting. I dont know how you
will do all of my country with its 750 odd confluences and only 257
completed. We are very big as you know and I can usually say that with
some conviction to almost everyone else in the world that I talk to
except of course you are from a country even bigger!! Still as just
one continuous land mass uninterrupted by water and islands it is a
big country by any standard.  I see your group has done all of my part
of Australia right through the kangaroo country that I am from. Do
they or your group realise that the rest of Australia that you have
not done is still nearly the same size as Europe!!! Further the areas
not done are populated by kangaroos,emus, wedge-tailed eagles and
perhaps a few aboriginals.It was only in the 70s that they found
people there who had never seen white people before! This is
wilderness of the extreme kind that even 95% of Australians will never
see. Most of us tough Aussies here get lost and scared once we get
outside the comfort  and familiarity of our big cities, i.e Sydney
about 5 million and Melbourne about 4 million. Other than a few other
state capitals of around one-2 million each thats the core of
Austalias populaion of 18 million. Are you a co-ordinator of the
project by the way??
