Thanks to tutuzdad & hlabadie - you've both given me a lot to read,
mull over and maybe come back another day to start off some new
questions :)  It is a shame that more is not made of WW2 in schools. 
Clearly a schoolchild can never grasp the gravity of such events from
a classroom, though it does seem shameful that I left school 8 years
ago knowing so little about it.  Those starting school today won't
even have grandparents who were there - such dramatic and recent
history effectively lost is really bad.  Hopefully they'll someday
find this and other pages for themselves.

tutuzdad has been a great help to me as I start to investigate my
statue further.  However, I have no more questions at this time.  Do I
have to pay a fee for simply keeping him informed as to my progress? 
I can't afford that. He deserves to know the outcome of the
investiagation; which may be months down the road from now. I attach a
tip that I meant to add to the first question that I paid 30.00 for.

I am absolutely THUNDERSTRUCK!  In 24 hours your researcher has found
more information than I had EVER hoped for, and the fact that my
possession may well be worth much much money!  This is my 2nd "rate
answer" to you...I submitted the rating, and added a tip, and will do
so again, because I am unsure what happened when I hit the "submit"
rating square, the screen went crazy and I found myself back in my In
box mail of outlook express.  Therefore, I am leaving the tip box on
this 2nd go round blank until I know if you received the first, or
this, the second, or both!

Yes that was very good and explanatory as well. You did answer my
extra questions as well. Indeed there is some science attached to the
game. Now I look forward to seeing a game again at which time I will
better able to understand and get more interested.
 Yes hike-hike does sound like hut-hut which did strike me as strange.
Hike seems odd as well however and brings a new meaning to GA's
example question "Hiking in New Mexico".

Although our quest to locate living members of a WWII unit was not
ultimately successful [through absolutely NO fault of the researcher],
tutuzdad-ga went well above and beyond the call ... by far.  I cannot
imagine how he could have done much more.  It's a little tough to find
information that apparently just does not exist.  But tutuzdad-ga was
tireless in running down leads.  I am very grateful for this yeoman
effort.

Thanks, but I disagree on 2 points: While it is true that the doctor
is the most qualified person to discuss with, the sad truth is that
most doctors rush thru the interview. I also disagree that if my
condition were desperate, that any doctor in the US would dare to make
a radical prostatectomy on me, and if one would I doubt if I would
take the risk. However because of the 1-st reason your answer is a
VERY useful supplementary source of information
