reprobate that I am, I hadn't thought to consider the legal
implications of locating the owner! Anyway, the stone passes the fog
test and the newsprint test, and (I think) the sliding between the
fingers test. So perhaps I shall head up to Hatton Garden and try my
luck...

This was good information.  There was a confusion in the answers
between VisualWorks(VW) and VisualSmalltalk (VSE).  These are 2
different products.  I'd still like to know when support was droped on
version 3 of VSE, if possible.

I finally had time to look at your answer. Thanks, I find it quite
good. Even though most of the models you come up with were listed on
two key sites (changingminds.org and the article on buyer behaviour by
Geoff Lancaster), I didn't find either of these sites myself when I
searched before posting this question. So thanks for your help!
