Brazilian Culture
Category: Arts and Entertainment > Music Rating and comments by: sagwalla-ga |
Thanks, roguedog - your answer was excellent. I also appreciate the extra credit info! If I confused you, my apologies. I re-read my question, and it is a bit ambiguous. What I was after was the domestic artists - the Brazilians on the list. I didn't want to know about the international pop that is big in Brazil. If you look at some of the lists, you can see what I mean. But just the same, the lists you pointed to were Top 50s, so I can eliminate the foreign stuff myself. The Brazzil site is a revelation. Many thanks for linking it! |

Answer was good to very good. 70% of the question answered very effectively. In hindsight, my question should have been more specific as I think some of it was misinterpreted. |

Large (>500 employees) companies in Naples, Florida?
Category: Business and Money > Employment Rating and comments by: kudut-ga |
The answer you provided was good, although (and perhaps I was vague), I was looking more for some of the answers provided in the comments below. It's not for market research, but rather to see what larger corporations exist in Naples, as I have a friend moving down there who is looking for IT work -- and I'm working with the assumption that a company over 500 employees large, will have at least a small handful of people for their computer tech staff. [ie - you don't need to work for a hi-tech corporation to get a good computer job] Calathea's comment was right on the mark, as were the other comments -- now, for example, knowing that "Health Management Associates" has 21,000 employees, I could ask my friend Jan to start making phone calls, researching HMA so that he can get a good cover letter going, checking out their job-postings, etc. Ultimately, the best jobs are often found in the 1-2 to 100 man shops, but if you're looking to have a corporate existance of some sort, as my friend Jan seems to be, bigger companies wlil do the trick. But your answer was still very good, and if some of the other leads turn out to be dead-ends, I will look into the pay sources. Thank you for your assistance! It was worth the $10. |

Allow a user to perform OCR on pages of mathematical text.
Category: Computers > Graphics Rating and comments by: david_j_kaplan-ga |
The answer is very close to what I thought it would be. The comment about the interest in the Braille community in problems of this sort was interesting. The comments concerning the insufficiency of the current state of the art corresponds to my views; I just wish it was not so. I first asked this question to the professional staff of a research library about fifteen years ago and the answer on the whole hasn't changed much. It was certainly worth the cost to revisit the problem. |

Software to check english spelling and grammar
Category: Computers > Software Rating and comments by: digulla-ga |
After clarifying my question, I got a very good answer with useful information. Note to the Google-guys: There should be a way for a researcher to ask questions before he starts the research if something is not clear (something where he can accept a research without submitting an answer) so he doesn't waste his time doing the "wrong" research. |

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing for the Lay Public
Category: Health > Medicine Rating and comments by: kathleenjun-ga |
The first answer, although thorough, ignored the criterion mentioned in the FIRST sentence that this needed to be a program designed to help a lay rescuer, i.e., someone who does NOT have a professional duty to respond, with the emotional upheaval often occurring even after a successfull save--not to mention the emotional mess if the victim dies. The material was valuable but did not answer my question. Follow-up comment, after I pointed out the missed criterion, were more helpful and I appreciate them. The main website mentioned by the researcher, however, fails to come up even when I try to reach it via Google. I think the basic answer to my question is that very few, if any, programs address this at all. It did bother me that I was promptly charged for the wrong answer. |

Answer was fine. Google's email request for commentary, however, could be improved. The email gave a link which I expected would contain two easily accesible points, as expressed in your email. 1) The answer, for my review, and 2) a chart for me to click on to the rate the answer. -------Instead I found tough navigating to get to 1} and 2}. You could make it easier, and if you do you will get more responsive answers. I like your service, and hope that you will continue it, and improve its logistics, too. Please say HI to Sharon - from her father-in-law who hopes to see her soon. Charles E. Nelson chuckn@hawaii.rr.com |
