Excellent, Thank You

After being frustrated by being unable to access the numerous
subscriber-only libraries for historical stock price data, I simply
used the Researcher's final tip about structuring my own Google search
("stock prices" + historical) and I found www.123jump.com which gave
me daily open, high, low, close quotes for SBH and KM - both of which
were dropped by the other standard reference sources since SmithKline
Beecham is now a part of Glaxo (GSK) and K-Mart post-Chapter 11 is now
KMRT. Thanks for the very detailed answer.

have the article in hand and can get down to the writing it inspired
without having had to traipse all over the web (or countryside) to
find it. I also appreciate the link you provided to "The Visible Human
Project." Google Answers is a wonderful service for those of us who
have an interest in knowledge but who haven't an interest in searching
for it. Thanks also to thx1138 and to hlabadie. I visited Proquest,
but I ended up ordering a copy of the New Yorker issue I needed from
whiteunicornbooks.

thank you, Omni!  granny isn't up on her copyright law and didn't want
to lure any of you researchers into badness.  I appreciate this info
on her pedigree.  I knew she was a blueblood.  she played Thalia
Menninger with such veracity.  from all this extra info provided by
rainbow and my granddaughter, I'm going to assume that Weld-Zukerman

Thanks!  Excellent detailed answer with lots of good references.

Big points for a quick response, but I have to say how disappointed I
was that the expert made no real effort to address my query. Telling
me that resources are "everywhere" is not the point, is it?

Really good answer and gave me lots of tips...A couple of the
references were ones I already had, so I knew they did not have what I
wanted.

I did not receive the information I was after.

This is the first time I've used this service and I'm not sure what to
expect. I got a usuful answer that will help point me in a direction
that will hopefully give me something more specific, you know like in
the "Graduate" when Dustin Hoffman was advised to go into "plastics".

I'm still searching for the process used to initially advance the
armature (heads, suspension, etc) over top of the platters, but a ton

Thank you for the great answers. I appreciate that you made it clear

the truth is, it was a 3-star answer, but i'm rating it 4-stars,
because i got a 5-star effort, which i appreciated.  the "tip" i'm
leaving, therefore, is not because i received an "exceptional answer"
(as the guideline puts it) ... but to reward the effort.  the reason
the answer was only 3-star is that it's very tricky for an executive
in one company to use an exec of another company as an example (which
i know as a speechwriter, but don't expect someone else to get, though
i tried to convey it) UNLESS there's a special, relevant connection. 
so i needed an anecdote that was less contemporary and more universal.
also the fed ex 2nd try was not fully apt.  it showed that the fed ex
guy had vision, but there was no direct successful pay-off for the
vision.  NONETHELESS, the willingness to help was clear -- and, again,
appreciated, as i want to show with my tip. i'm currently solving the
problem w/ 3 brief QUOTES (classic) about vision and being visionary
... if i can't ultimately sell that solultion, i may come back to
google and try the well again.  mike
