Hey Omnivorous,

That's a pretty good answer. What I'm looking for is the equivalent of
a "Chicago Manual of Style", "Strunk's", or "Oxford English
Dictionary" for business letters. Based on your research, doesn't
appear that one really exists, but the two from AMA and McGraw-Hill
look like they'll provide what I'm looking for. I appreciate the
consideration you put into your response.

I wasn't really looking for UK or Indian standards, but it's
interesting to see. I already know that the international business
world is trying its best to emulate the US. :)

Thank you - I thought I tried "everything" and couldn't understand why

Thank you for trying to track that down!  I really appreciate it.  I'm
disappointed that we were unable to find an actual article -- but my
mom may be remembering incorrectly.  I'll check out some of those
resources.

Regarding "extremely remote" -- since you are local, you have a pretty
good idea of the San Juan's and may even know some of this better than
I do.  From my understanding -- Floyd Johnson was the original
developer of Blakley.  He picked the lot and built his house up there.
 So, at the time, there were only a few homes -- and like today, no
ferry service.  It is nicknamed "The flying island" because most of
the home owners were also private pilots and flew up there.  Most
homes did not have phones either.  In recent years, service of
multiple small airlines and the advent of shuttle boat services have
made it a bit less remote.  Additonally, more phones and internet
access have helped a lot.

So, my reference to levels of remoteness refers to as much the
psychological feeling of connectendess and nearness, as the physical
location.

         I'm beyond speechless! Way beyond. I'm so flabbergasted &
astonished that I'm not functioning. I hesitated to post this one, due
to it's almost impossible. I had thought that no one would search for
me anymore if I got too far removed from reality!  Wow!!!  Thank you
so so very very much. How you did it is marvelous. Ancestry.com has
not even indexed the census for 1900 or 1910. I thought I'd have to

The shoe company we divested was called Etonic.  It was sold in 1986.

Oh my God, this researcher is wonderful.  They went far above and
beyond my expectations, and I was definately pleased.  This was my
first time using Google Answers and I was skeptical to say the least,
