me numbers. I hope that you will answer more of my questions in the
future. I will post more on Thursday!

i wish there were other choices besides the 1-5 stars ... like "n/a"
or "see comments" or something. i feel as though the answer CAN'T be
considered complete, in that the project is temporarily on hold, and i
don't THINK i've got exactly what i'll need, but i can't pursue it
further to clarify at this time. i would have appreciated a faster
first response (i posted my query on 4/27 and didn't receive
omnivorous's reply till 5/7.) however, i appreciate omnivrous's
knowledge/expertise, and i'm TOTALLY comfortable authorizing the $50
payment, with my thanks.

Subject: Retail question Wal-Mart Promotion good or bad? Omnivorous...

Living in a country where we don't have a Wal-Mart, Tesco or Costco
YET, it is great to get your perspective and AHT's. What I really like
about Omnivorous is that he/she calculates the answers, instead of
just talking about it in an abstract way like the business students
tend to do. Above and beyond expectations. Especially liked the per
customer purchase amount question. We all had forgotten about that
one.

The IKEA standpoint: shop in shop managers (there are about 10-15 per
store) have to work with their intuition and take bold risks. This
example was given in a newsletter 2 months ago. A shopmanager who
sells 4 or 5 heartshaped pillows a week and thinks before Valentine's
day, "I could sell them fantastically at the entrance of the store if
I pile up 3 000 of them" Should go ahead and order them if he feels
that it will be commercial, intuition/experience is the key. (You
can't return anything to the distribution center.) Ingvar Kamprad, the
founder, says: "Only people who are asleep don't make mistakes."

Many thanks, Omni

So it was an airyplane after all!

I am very glad that I asked you the question because I bet that the
other 499 Researchers would have struggled with this one.

Very impressively researched and double quick, too.

And, clever you ... You have left me with the urge to find out what
'Vita nimis brevis est tarde volo' means.

I think I can guess ...

'Life is much too brief to risk flying' Or 'Flying is strictly for the birds'

Very sound sentiments, I'm sure.

Warmest regards

Bryan

I miss his fiery rhetoric, and always felt sorry for him when the
"other side" would infuriate him to the point he could hardly speak,
and his temples appeared ready to burst. Yes, he is undoubtedly alive,
as one would presume from lack of an obit- etc, although the specter
of him being "somehow quieted" to prevent releasing some amazingingly
disturbing secrets still tantalizes. I am not sure the "answers"
adequately respond to "why did he leave (public life)" - "why has he
not been heard from"... the latter especially mind boggling, but
thanks for the info so far presented; I hope more comments appear that
might shed more light. Best, dood.
