I think this is the right movie. There are some differences between
the details on imdb and the way I remember the movie, but I saw it a
long time ago and maybe I don't remember it correctly. I will order it
and then I can tell for sure. Anyway, thanks for the quick answer and

Hi Pink:  Thanks for your well-researched answer. I was truly
interested in how addictive the opium medications were. By the way,
heroin was the first designer drug, very easy to make from morphine.
Today, any competent organic chemist can make new, unique designer
drugs, thus making legalization of narcotics a political
impossibility.
