Fair enough.  The answer really is "African American" equals "Black"
but sounds better, and at least cannot be confused with anything else.
 It means what the promoters of the term wanted it to mean.  Period.

My only comment, other than to express my admiration for the extent
and appositeness of your reply, is that The Economist is well-regarded
by some, but not by me. In my view, economics is a charaltan
discipline, the result of a misalliance between accountancy and
astrology. Economists are latter-day chicken entrail inspectors.

Cool! I never would have guessed the origins were so mundane.

I cannot believe it!  This toy has haunted me for years, and in a
matter of hours, not only did you find the name of the game, but its
location on ebay!  Amazing!  Pulling the picture up was like a walk
down memory lane!  My local news morning show, wwl, channel four in
new orleans has a feature every thursday called "digital gumbo" where
they showcase computer and internet information...they featured
"answer google" this morning and WOW, I'm very impressed and
appreciative!
