Great answer.  Have not tried to fix the drive yet, but it's worth $5
to hear from someone who is brilliantly intelligent.  Lots of good
leads here for me to follow-up.

While the response was somewhat helpful, I specified that the two
rooms were aproximately 100 feet away and this information was
basically ignored in the answer -- a crucial omission. Also, a direct
link to the door-window transmitter would have been appreciated.

The answer explains my observation. It is curious, however, that the
MSN/MSIE approach apparently does not truly "search" the web itself
for keywords or content.

I know I asked a difficult question, because I've been trying to
answer it myself for a while. I've seen more thorough answers and
links (to other questions), but it's good enough. I'll have to follow
up on the links and advice provided, which look promising. Thanks!

Very poor answer. It solved nothing.
I answered follow up questions. Received no reply.
 One advisier said, open the machine. Another warned, don't enter the machine.

The groups were something I had forgot to check, and were somewhat
helpful, as was the general link. Answer didn't really adress patent
infringement reasonable royalty awards by courts or settlement/license
agreements. Of course, I know this is a hard area to reasearch - that
was one reason I asked for help (I'm actually a legal research expert
by profession.)Mainly I was just looking for any resources I may not
have known about, and it was an urgent request. So for the quick
response and a little info this was $25 that was pretty well spent, in
my opinion.

The answer paired with the response to my clarification was exactly
what I was looking for in an answer, if not the answer I wanted. You
can't shoot the messenger! At least it verified for me that I'm taking
the correct route in my job search.

Having finally resolved my problem through a tip from a book in the
library, I can now see that it was basically correct, but i couldn't
understand it.  Where the guru says "Since all Microsoft Access
databases have a *.mdb extension, you
need to set that in windows explorer", I did not understand that to
mean that i had to add the extension to the name.

While i was able to find the .mbd in "file types,"  I had no clue how
to "browse for the access executable," or what to do if I found it.

Thanks.  I may wait before trying this, as sometimes solutions cause
more problems than the problems themselves.  But I'm going to keep
