For PinkFreud: What Next?
Category: Reference, Education and News > Current Events Rating and comments by: thaumaturge-ga |
PinkFreud, I think yours is the greatest username, I must say. (I only chose thaumaturge because I like the word!) Unfortunately I have come rather late to the GA party as an offical user, but as I mentioned have been silently following for 2 or 3 years now. So it seems to me as though the GARs and regular commenters are friends although I have been invisible! Your ability to name any obscure book or film has astounded me but greater still is your wit and wisdom. I do encourage you to participate in other research projects if you can but it's also occurred to me that you would make a fantastic blogger. One of my favourites is http://jonswift.blogspot.com -- I think you may enjoy it! I'm not sure how much money is to be made thusly, but I belive that some revenue may be generated through ads. (I am a complete stranger to Mr. Swift and this is not intended as a mercenary plug.) Siliconsamurai's suggestion is a good one too, but why stick at local papers? GA has shown that everyone enjoys hearing your opinion! Think 'on-line syndicated column'.... Many thanks too for the Notes on the Animal Kingdom. We should enjoy today's miseries and not focus on past ones, eh? ;-) Rather Hardyesque! (Although I think he would say that we could do both. Reading Hardy always cheers me up.) Best of luck to you, the other GARs and the regular commenters. (What *will* myoarin do when he returns from his hiatus? It seems that commenting is verboten now.) I shall miss you all! thaumaturge p.s. Has anyone else noticed that Kemlo has been absent over the same period as Myoarin? I think perhaps people had the wrong secret identity for him! |

GA etiquette
Category: Miscellaneous Rating and comments by: barneca-ga |
hi pinkfreud, on top of everything else, sorry to hear the GAR’s were given so little notice. hope you all land on your feet, and especially hope you find some way to stick together. nice hat, though the brand name has taken a pretty big hit from my perspective. i have to say, it’s rather jarring to put a face to the name. ever since i started lurking on GA, something about your answers and comments have reminded me of a friend i used to know a long time ago in seattle. i guess i subconsciously associated her face with your name, and my first thought on seeing the image was “that’s not what pinkfreud looks like!” i doubt i need to actually say “goodbye” to anyone; there appear to be a couple of sites ramping up where GAlaxians will be able to keep tabs on each other if they so desire. i'll probably check in from time to time to satisfy my curiosity. but man, am i ever going to miss the GA environment. i doubt we will ever see it’s equal. i hope i’m wrong. thanks, pink, for being what i know many of us here consider to be the archetype of a GAR, and the soul of GA. see ya around. -chuck barnes aka barneca |

Category: Science > Technology Rating and comments by: probonopublico-ga |
Hiya Pink Marvellous, as always, Many thanks! Actually, a co-writer of mine has an idea for a script that we are working on and your insights have helped enormously, particularly your 'Breaking News'. And the Po was a real bonus! Sadly, both Steph53 and Myoarin flouted the rules and they not only peeped but actually had the effrontery to post Comments. What next? Nevertheless, all is not lost and I shall now call the mad scientist MyFootIn and the petite robot becomes Steph54. I bet you'll never guess the colour of her hair. I do hope that they take offence. All the Best Bryan |

It appears you have not lost your sparkle when it comes to providing value for money answers for your customers. Category: Relationships and Society > Romance Rating and comments by: mark9375-ga |
Darn. I was hoping the story would be shorter, like a fable or parable. I guess I must have seen a kids' version of it in a cartoon or something and it must have stuck. It's too long for me to use the way I wanted to. Also, I missed my deadline. None of that's your problem, however. I don't quite understand the rating system, but any answer is a great answer. |

How do I become a Researcher
Category: Science Rating and comments by: probonopublico-ga |
Wow, Pink, Very Many Thanks, You really are a Wiz! I never realised it was so easy. I have donned my new hat and I already feel empowered. However, my delight has been tainted by the note of jealousy introduced by my good friend the Mighty Myo. Next time I meet him, I shall make jolly sure that my hat is locked away somewhere safe. Now, I must get down to some serious research and my first project is to find a recipe for Lemon Meringue Pie. I shall be eternally grateful. Bryan A New Man |

Category: Reference, Education and News > Current Events Rating and comments by: markvmd-ga |
Excellent and comprehensive answer, Pink, and thank you! I had been debating with friends that distilling isn't all that complicated and is unlikely to cause toxins to form simply by virtue of the distillation process. What surprises me is that there are criminals who would add these poisons when it really isn't that hard to distill alcohol. Even a cheap cologne probably costs more than grain alcohol. 24 minutes from post to completion. Wow! |
