A chat with a sound engineer at Vermont Public Radio (800-639-2192)
revealed that the theme music is from "Fantasia."

Can you be more specific: composer, name of piece?

Sorry for the brevity. In retrospect, I should have realized you
needed more than that. The composer's name was Georg Telemann
(1681-1767). He wrote 12 fantasias for the flute, and they were later
arranged for the recorder. It was the recorder version that was used
on the show.

Vermont Public Radio is very busy today. They're an engineer short and
were up all night handling the election. The engineer, Sam Sanders,
did not have the time to look up the exact song, and he's the only one
who would know. But you can listen to clips at http://icking-music
archive.sunsite.dk/ByComposer/Telemann.html.

If you want the sheet music, you can find it at
http://www.pjb.com.au/mus/free/fantasias_Crec.pdf.

Sorry about the delay.
