I am looking for a database of UK higher education institutes and
courses that I will be able to reuse/process for educational
consulting purposes.

I need this on electronic media. (CD, dowloadable file)

I need one that contains the data in readable-transferrable format
(text, common database format) which means I don't want a cd with a
coursefinder-application and the data in some unknown format.

I am not interested in the web-based course search tools. I want the
data, not the functionality to search them.

A list of pointers (URL or other contact information) to providers of
such a data set along with prices where available is an adequate
answer.

What sort of courses are you interested in?
E.g.: HNC/HNC, Bachelor (undergraduate, i.e. BA, BSc, etc.),
postgraduate (MSc, MRes, Research PhD, taught PhD), short courses
leading to recognised qualification, short courses not leading to
qualification. (There are probably others that I haven't thought of,
as well).

I am interested in Undergraduate and Postraduate Degree courses. I
believe that the courses most likely to be available in some form of
database would be Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

The more the better, but I want at least Bachelors and Taught Masters
Degrees. If you cannot find for both, one of the two still helps.

Even a well-supported and documented assertion that such a thing
cannot be found is an acceptable answer. By that I do not mean "we
searched a lot with so-and-so terms and didn't find anything" rather
something like "according to this credible source, a comprehensive
list of courses is maintained by ???? who does not sell or give it
away" Although, by the number of coursefinder websites out there and
course listing books, I suspect it must be available somewhere.
