This is one I saw on television back in college and, even though I have collected every Stewart video I can get my hands on, I've never been able to find it. I only saw a brief part of it. All I recall is that Stewart's character won some money. It may have been with a lottery ticket. I seem to recall him sitting on a set of stairs indoors when he learns. Either he got a phone call or heard the winning lottery number on the radio. He may have called his boss and quit just afterwards. Every time I see "Pot O' Gold" in his filmography, I remember this movie because I used to think that was it. However, I have seen "Pot O' Gold" several times, and it's not the one. In fact, I've looked through Stewart's imdb.com listing several times and read the descriptions, but can't come up with it. Anybody know? |

hi jbbarnes, I believe the movie you are referring to is called "The Jackpot " (1950). Jimmy Stewart and Barbara Hale star as a couple who suffer the unexpected travails of winning the jackpot in a radio giveaway. . You can buy it on VHS for $17.99 from here: http://www.jimmy.org/cgi-bin/hazel/hazel.cgi/multimedia.html --------------------------------------------- I found this by first typing "jimmy stewart" and "filmography", and then had a look at any likely titles in the list. If a film had to do with winning the lottery then it is quite likely it would have a title name relevant to money, e.g. win, treasure, gamble, gold, etc. When i saw the "The Jackpot" listed, i did another search using this as a keyword and found a brief description of the film and a place to purchase the video --------------------------------------------- hope this helps |
