tar_heel_v-ga,

So long they are likely mispellings and not say 10 different
misspellings of aracnophobia then yes that sounds good.

Thank you also everyone else for your comments; I am going to
investigate your suggestions.

There are some with multiple misspellings, but the most I have seen is
two or three for a single word. I will upload the list and post the
link in an answer.

Hello padders-ga,

I was unable to locate a list of that size for free online, but I did
find a book available for purchase. "1,001 Commonly Misspelled Words"
is availble at Amazon:
]

I hope this helps!

There's a list at this site:

http://www.library.cornell.edu/tsmanual/TSSU/comis1.html

It has the proper spelling along with a variation. There are about
120-130 per page, so it's in the range of about 500 words. Note that
some of the words have more than one variation, i.e. Activities has
variations of Acitivities, Activiies, Activites.

The mispellings appear to by more typo related as opposed to knowledge
of the actual spelling.

Hope this helps!

Another good place to start is to look at Microsoft Word. It has an
"auto-correct" feature that corrects misspelled words as you type.

Spelling errors I make are double letters vs single letters, s or c
except at the beginning and end of words. ie vs ei that violate the
rule. Some like field/feild, I think violate the rule, but they don't.
