On Sunday, the United States summarily executed six al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen. Some foreign newspapers and officials of some other countries have criticized this action as being immoral and violative of international law, and the U.S. has criticized similar actions when taken by other countries, particuarly Israel. My question is this: Have there been any members of the U.S. Congress who have publicly made similar criticisms of the U.S. action? If you can answer that, I'll give you extra credit for this: Have there been any major American newspapers (in their editorials, not merely in columns written by a single writer) that have criticized the executions as immoral or in violation of international law? (Note: I am most interested in members of Congress, and that's the answer I'm paying for. But it's worth at least an extra star if you can find a major newspaper's editorial that takes this position.) |

I did some research, and the answer to your question appears to be short: "no". No, there does not appear to be any members of Congress or major media outlets (or even very many minor ones) that have made a stand against the recent US action in Yemen. Since I could not find a positive answer for you, and a negative is difficult to prove, I refrained from posting this as an answer. Perhaps someone else will find a member of Congress that said something critical of the US action in Yemen. |
