Where do I get the most affordable insurance for a 24 year old woman living in East Palo Alto who was ticketed with driving without insurance/licence and failed to obey a sign? I want to know the price to buy insurance for the next six months and wether it is possible for her to pay month by month. She now has a license. |

Hello from Google Inc., Thank you for your question. In order to answer your question, it will be necessary to provide more information about the person looking to purchase the insurance policy. Car insurance rates are highly sensitive to the individuals profile. For this reason it is best if the individual contacts the insurance provider directly. You will need to provide: 1. Persons full name and age 2. Primary living residence 3. Full address for your permanent residence 4. Type of car that will be insured 5. How many people live in the persons household 6. Any other information about the persons driving history (i.e., moving traffic violations, license revocation, etc.) Individual insurance companies may need additional information in order to offer you the most appropriate quote for the individual. Some companies you may be interested in exploring are*: American Automobile Association- provides auto insurance through the Cal-Nevada Auto Group. May also have information on other car insurance companies throughout California. http://www.csaa.com/insurance/subsection/0,7871,1005010000,00.html Geico Direct (800) 861-8380 http://www.geico.com Progressive Insurance (800)-PROGRESSIVE http://buyonline1.progressive.com/info.asp Kemper Insurance Companies (800) 437-8394 Customer service is open Monday- Friday 8am-9pm Eastern Time. Hi Susan, Check out www.esurance.com. There you can get an online quote with differing amounts of coverage(liability only, liability and comprehensive, liability and uninsured motorist, etc) The parent company for esurance is a top rated insurance company. For a policy based on the information you described, this is the quote they gave: $667 for 6 months for Bodily Injury limit: $15,000/$30,000 (per person/per accident) Property Damage Limit: $5,000 Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Limits: $15,000/$30,000 This is with a $500 deductible. I chose the lowest amounts of coverage they offer for a 24 year old driver with the two violations you listed in zip code 94306 and the car you listed. Hope this helps. By the way, if cost is no object, Mercury Insurance probably gives the best service. They were the first to voluntarily pay the california insurance rebates to their customers for example. However, they are the most expensive until you have been with them for a few years. |

Susan, With a violation like "Operating without a license", few standard carriers will provide a quote, much less a cheap/competitive one. A lot of the online insurance companies "cherry pick" because they are "afraid" of internet risk. But, with the information you provided, I was able to find you some better quotes than those listed above. Most of those quotes are with Standard Companies that will charge very high rates for riskier drivers. As mentionned above also, there are some carriers that specialize in more "sub-standard". http://www.quotesmith.com quotes a few of those sub-standard carriers live and online. With the information that you provided I was able to come up with this sample of quotes: EXPLORER INSURANCE COMPANY - 6 months - $332 REPUBLIC INDEMNITY CO. OF CALIFORNIA - 6 months - $421 FINANCIAL INDEMNITY CO./UNITRIN - 6 - $439 My choice from the above would be FIC. They are an incredibly financially stable insurance company (rated A+) and even have a standard business model that you could qualify for in a couple of years. |

Susan: Your best bet is to (of course) shop around online. And even then, most companies give you estimates (not real time rates). Some will only give you one rate from one company. Some online providers are only lead resellers and will only give you a thank you after you spend 15 minutes filling out their quote form. You can get online rates from up to 4 auto insurance carriers securley at: https://www.4carinsurancequotes.com/ Andf you can buy online or over the phone. As far as paying month to month on the policy, that will depend on her credit. If you have negative entries, some companies will require you to make a semi or even annual payment, until you have been with them for a year. Some will only require a monthly bank draft. Hope this helps, autoinsguy |
