According to "Contemporary Authors" a Gale print index available at
your local library or online through some libraries.

Jerrold M(ichael) Packard is an American born in 1943 in Orange,
California.
He has a B.A. from Portland State University (1967), served in the
U.S. Airforce 1961-1965 and attained the rank of sergeant.

He currently lives in Portland, Oregon
His agent is
Frederick Hill Associates, 2237 Union St., San Francisco, CA 94123

His career includes employment as a health administrator in the early
Seventies, a rare book dealer in the latter part of that decade and a
writer since 1980.

Search strategy: online public library search of "Contemporary
Authors" for Jerrold M. Packard

It should be noted that several other researchers have also
investigated this question and there appears to be virtually no
biographical information available on the Internet.

It is difficult to understand why the researcher could not contact the
author's literary agent for more information, concerning family
particularly. Is the author so secretive about his life? There was
no way for me to learn more from the website suggested.

redpencil,

Nellie_Bly did indeed answer the question as you asked it. You
requested a "biographical sketch" which "need not be lengthy, just
some basic facts", and that is exactly what she provided.

You did not ask for personal information. If you had asked for
personal information, Nellie_Bly or another Researcher would have told
you that, according to the "Terms of Service" to which we agree when
we become Researchers, Researchers are not permitted to post private
information for individuals.

The web link to which you refer was posted by someone other than
Nellie_Bly.

Hi redpencil-ga:

As a writer myself I can tell you, literary agents simply don't dole
out personal information about their clients without their clients'
permission.

If this were a situation where, say, you wanted to send a fan letter
to an author, the publisher or agent would happily pass that letter
along to the author. But they wouldn't supply personal information
about the author.
