Question ID: 102525
Can anyone find a picture of George H W Bush (Bush Snr) with a member
of the Bin Laden family. Access via a web address would be ideal but
picture libraries are fine too. Medium to high res photo would be
better.

Also a family group of the Saudi Royal Family.

piglypie,

Even if such a picture were available, you may have a hard time
proving its autheticity, as in the case of these pictures:

http://images.google.com/images?q=bert+bin+laden&ie=ISO-8859-1&hl=en

Without some proof of autheticity, it would be rather easy for someone
to graft a picture of Bush together with bin Laden. Would you accept
any picture regardless of proof of it being genuine?

Good point - they must be news pictures from a reliable source or on a
"reliable" website - apparently many such meetings took place and my
colleaugues swear that such pictures exist. No composites!

I don't need proof but I think we can get an idea of authenticity by
its provenance on the web. So for instance - on a CNN website -
obviously false. Just joking - but you know what I mean.

Dear Piglypie,

I doubt if you'll find a picture like the first you're looking for.
There are claims from various sources that the US has had connections
Bin Laden during the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. However,
that doesn't imply that a US President and Vice President at that time
would "risk" himself at being pictured with anything that smells funny
like that. I also suspect that if any such hard evidence of meetings
with Bin Laden (or his family members) was available to public view,
it would have surfaced by now.

It should be also mentioned that Bin Laden's family is huge, and not
all of them (actually, not most of them), have connections with Dr.
Evil. Therefore, a meeting with a member of the managers of the Bin
Laden Construction Group (for example) doesn't imply that the same
person is related to the Osama.

Last but least, I have searched the "regular" web for an expression
such as "bush met bin laden", but even the most conspiratory sites
have yielded no results.

You can always comfort yourself with this one:
