Hi,
Having attempted "houskeeping" my computer I now get an alert on
startup which says "a required DLL file anticipator DLL was not
found".

Will something horrible happen to my system without it, and if so how
can I put things right?

Many thanks,

Chris

You wouldn't, by any chance, be running a program called VCatch, would you?

Hi doobydoo,

I assume that my answer worked for you. So, I'm posting it here as an
'answer'.

anticipator.dll is a file that seems to be part of the Vcatch
software: a free mailscanner.

First off, the error message that you're seeing should not harm the
system in any way. It's more of an informational error message.

To fix the error, assuming that you still want vcatch installed, do
the following:

Click Start, then 'Settings', then 'Control Panel'. Once the new
window opens, double click 'add/remove software' and REMOVE the vcatch
software.

Reboot the computer

Once rebooted, redownload the newest version of the software from:
http://www.vcatch.com/download.html

Once the download is finished, install the software and your problem
should be solved.

I should probably mention, to install the software, simply
double-click on the file that you downloaded from the website. The
easiest place to download the file to is the "Desktop" -- easy to find
the file once downloaded.

Thanks again for using Google Answers! Please feel free to ask for
clarification if you need more assistance!

Hi doobydoo,

I'm still waiting for my account to be totally activated so that I can
give you the 'answer' to this question, but, if this works for you,
once I'm finished being setup I can post this as the answer--if that's
ok with you?
