Hello. I am trying to find a book for a friend titled something like:
"Black ____ Door." I believe it is based upon a true story, so I guess
that would classify it as non fiction? The plot pertains to how a home
or business was built atop an old Indian burial ground, and as an
alleged result, odd/paranormal things occur. The book is very hard to
find and may be out of print. So, I would like to find out if the book
is available for sale, and if so, where. Thanks, I hope this is the
right kind of question to ask.

Any idea as to the age of the book? Something written recently?

It is my understanding that the book was published in the mid to late
80's. I wish I had more information to provide you. Thanks.

Major Clarification: It seems I not only missed the middle word, but
miss-heard the last one. The title of the book is, "Black Hope
Horror," by Ben Williams. If I need to post a new question I can.
Sorry and Thanks.

Thanks for the new info! There is no need to repost the question as
long as we understand what is needed. I, for one, found the search for
the "Black (something) Door" rather interesting.

Am I correct in assuming that you want to locate a copy, for purchase,
of "Black Hope Horror," by Ben Williams?

I have been able to locate eight copies of "Black Hope Horror" for
sale, at prices ranging from approximately thirty dollars up to fifty
dollars. This is a rather rare book, as you noted in the title of your
question.

Yes, thank you, I would like to locate and purchase a copy of this
seemingly rare book. I appreciate the speedy feedback.

Azure,

Three used copies of "Black Hope Horror," in hardback, are available
at Half.com, at prices ranging from $29.95 to $49.00, plus $3.25
shipping:

Half.ebay.com
http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=2536052&domain_id=1856&meta_id=1

Four used copies of the book are listed on Amazon/Bibliofind, at
prices ranging from $39.20 to $49.00, plus $3.49 shipping:

Amazon.com/Bibliofind

One copy is offered by Powell's Books, for $51.95, with free shipping:

Powells.com

My search strategy in finding these books consisted of visits to the
sites above, and to several other sites which offer used books.

I'm so glad we were able to track this down for you! I hope your
friend will be pleased. A gently-used book is very nearly as good as a
new one. The rarity of this book on the used market may indicate that
many people view it as a "keeper" rather than as a book to be read
once, and passed along.

If any of the links above do not function, or if anything more is
needed, please request clarification before rating my answer, and I'll
gladly offer further assistance.

Best wishes,
pinkfreud

I found "Black Door" by Wilcox, but I do not think this is the book.

Thanks. I know that there is a word in between Black and Door, I am
just not sure what it is. As soon as I find out what it is I will
clarify my question.

There is also "Black door" by Cleve Adams - but again no word in
between.

Question, and as I am a non-American I hope nobody takes offence if I
say something politically incorrect: is the Indian burial ground in
India, or is it indian as in "native American"?

Good luck, read2live

Thanks for the comment. Sorry, I say "Indian" burial grounds in
reference to Native American - Indians. I too do not mean to offend
anyone, only to describe the book as best I can given what limited
knowledge I have of it. Thanks again.

I wonder if you could be thinking of "The House Next Door," by Anne
Rivers Siddons, which deals with an accursed house in which terrible
things happen. Here's a review that gives some details of the plot:

Another possibility is "Blackwater III: The House," by Michael McDowell.

Thanks. That book review does sound quite a bit like how my friend
described the book I am looking for, only without the burial ground
issue. I am not sure. Plus, I am pretty sure that the book I am
looking for was based on a true story. Thanks for the info though. I
will see how the second book you made mention of compares to what I am
thinking of.
