Hi halhalex,
Have you upgraded to Version 6 or 7, or, you just want to delete some
folders that you have added? Here are a few things that come without
asking for further clarification:
Idea # 1:
Go to Edit/Preferences/Appearance/Themes/ and click on Classic. This
will restore the appearance of the old Netscape.
Idea # 2:
What is the very first item in the mailbox list? It should be the
name of your account, and then under that you would have your Inbox,
etc. If the very first item is Local Folders, then you do not have
your account set up. If this is the case, do the following:
1. Highlight Local Folders.
2. Click on Create New Account.
3. Tick off Email Account
4. Enter Your Name and Email Address.
Continue from there and set up the account you have with your ISP.
When you are finished, the name you chose should appear as the first
item in your mailbox. Click on the Plus sign and you should see the
familiar Inbox/Unsent Messages/Drafts/Templates/Sent/Trash.
Idea # 3:
If you just want to delete some folders that you have added:
1. Highlight the Folder
2. Go to Edit
3. Click on Delete Folder
Idea # 4:
If your Account Mailbox and Local Mailbox are both showing up, but the
folders aren't, try this:
1. Go to Edit/Mail & News Group Account Settings/Server Settings.
2. Make sure the Local Directory points to the address where your
files are kept.
If none of these ideas solve the problem or if I've misunderstood your
question, please let me know, along with exactly what you have done
(upgraded, changed ISP, or?) and any other details you can think of.
I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your comments. However I'm solid into 4.79 and need to
find answers for it. You seem to be suggesting solutions for other
versions of Netscape Communicator. Can you help with this version?

Dear halhalex,
I'm sorry if I misunderstood your question, but I wish you had given
me a chance to respond to your request for clarification before rating
my answer. My last paragraph in my answer states "If none of these
ideas solve the problem or if I've misunderstood your question, please
let me know, along with exactly what you have done(upgraded, changed
ISP, or?) and any other details you can think of. I'll get back to you
as soon as possible."
Your question states "How do I return to...", which I took to mean
that you had left Netscape 4.6x & 4.79 and you wanted your mail
folders to be back the way they used to be. Could you please explain
exactly what problem you are having?
Did you try any of the solutions I gave you or do they not have
anything to do with the your problem? They may still help, even
though my basic premise was incorrect.
Sincerely,
hummer

Halhalex, after rereading your question several times, I think I
finally understand! Sorry for being so dense!
It sounds like some of your files have done some migrating for some
reason.
Go to My Computer: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\(& Users again if
needed)/Mail/
The Mail folder is where your Inbox, Sent, Trash, Templates, Unsent
Files are stored. You will probably see the unwanted files, that you
are trying to delete, in there as well. You didn't say what they are,
but you can either move them up one level or delete them if you don't
need them. For now, I would just try moving them up one level and see
if that solves your problem.
So find your "Mail" folder within Netscape and see if the unwanted
files are there. If they are, you have to move them out.
Please let me know if this works or if you need further explanation.
If this doesn't work, please let me know the name of the folders you
are trying to delete.
Thanks,
hummer

Dear halhalex,
Assuming you are still unhappy with my answer, I'd like to remind you
that you can re-post your question at no extra charge - hopefully
another researcher will be able to provide you with the information
you need.
I'm sorry I so misread your question and I wish I had asked for a
clarification before I attempted to answer it. For me the most
important thing is that you receive a complete and accurate answer to
your question, so I hope you will consider a re-post.
Sincerely,
hummer
